GSM/GPRS Data Communication Devices
The WIPG series of data modems use the GSM cellular network to provide remote telemetry in either circuit switched (CSD) or packet mode (GPRS). Energy Intellect data modems work with Energy Intellect smart meters or as generic units to work with smart meters provided by other smart meter manufacturers.

Using the WIPG in packet switched mode revolutionises the telemetry market, offering a highly functional yet transparent platform for remote devices to be truly IP enabled. Utilising an efficient integrated IP stack, the WIPG modems route serial traffic through the GPRS network to a central host. Remote interrogation can be easily scheduled for regular data downloads of metering and other status information.

This is the perfect solution for real-time or near real-time data access. GPRS communications is well suited for any applications that require remote interrogation of field equipment at daily intervals or more often.


 
Communications Models: WIPG447D, WIPG247A,
These models operate with the Energy Intellect range of electricity meters. When coupled together, the WIPG can download an entire day's energy readings of 15 minute intervals in less than 30 seconds.

Additionally, a monthly profile of data can be downloaded in less than 1 minute, maximising the use of AMR infrastructure while keeping call costs to a minimum.

The WIPG447D has an RS-485 interface for multi-drop connections; where multiple meters share one modem.

The WIPG247A has an RS-232 interface for point-to-point connection; one meter to one modem.

Communications Model: WIPG247C
The WIPG247C is the most robust industry metering modem with IP65 rating and unparalleled reliability, ideal for Industry and telemetry applications.

The WIPG247C is designed to operate with a range of electricity meters from other smart meter vendors. Additionally, other equipment supporting an RS-232 interface may be combined to provide a data gathering solution.

The WIPG247C has an RS-232 interface for point-to-point connection; one meter to one modem.
