Established as a partnership between subsidiaries of Energy Intellect and Vector Limited in 2001, the Stream Information Partnership is an example of a new business channel partner that was developed from Energy Intellect’s vision, innovation and technology.

The Stream business model focuses predominantly on providing Commercial and Industrial customers with direct end access to advanced, interval and settlement grade metering information that is used to provide customers with consistent independent access to meter data for contestable market application.

The predecessor to this business was established by Energy Intellect in 1999 and subsequently amalgamated into the Stream Partnership in 2001. Through product development and the provision of a reliable and high quality service, this business has grown from a client base of 1,100 in 2001 to more than 5,000 commercial and industrial customers today. This represents a significant share in the New Zealand contestable commercial and industrial customer base.

Stream’s business model also involves contracting Energy Intellect’s “Managed Services Group” to provide ISO quality market compliant meter data services in the New Zealand market. This service provision involves managing and operating the Energy Intellect platform on Stream’s behalf and provides meter commissioning and other meter and devices management including liaison with field installers and meter maintenance agents. Energy Intellect Managed Services group provides Stream unprecedented levels of reliability for interval meter data collection and delivery.

The foundation for Stream’s business is technology provided by Energy Intellect, and since inception Stream has captured over 45% of New Zealand C&I customers and is recognised as New Zealand’s leading provider of energy information and independent metering services.

Recently Energy Intellect has worked with Stream to upgrade the vast majority of its installed asset base to packet-based GPRS cellular services. This project has been managed by Energy Intellect and utilises Energy Intellect’s data modules and collection systems, which enables Stream Information to provide an impressive range of frequent meter reading services.

As a component of the Managed Services package, Energy Intellect also provides Stream the data visualisation SaaS suite Clariti. This ensures Stream’s end-user client sites have their meter data available on-line as soon as it is read. This provides Stream clients the ability to view and manage their interval meter data at an enterprise level and enjoy the rich online reporting that Clariti provides.
