Melbourne University, one of Australia's premier research and teaching institutions, has recently engaged Energy Intellect to provide an intelligent sub metering solution as a key component of its innovative program to achieve a sustainable campus through the implementation of environmentally sustainable best practices and carbon footprint reduction.

Melbourne University has commissioned Energy Intellect to provide an end to end sub metering solution comprising it's latest series of VM smart meters and wireless modems installed at over 75 key points throughout the campus. The meters are read daily via Energy Intellect's externally hosted meter reading platform and the usage data made available to the University via Energy Intellect's web-based energy information, reporting and analysis application  - Clariti. Data from the Utilities revenue meters is also viewable via the Clariti application providing the University with an enterprise view of energy usage at the campus.

This intelligent sub-metering solution coupled with Clariti energy information reporting enables Melbourne University to measure and monitor energy consumption at key points throughout the campus and assign carbon offset targets to individual departments.

Melbourne University's Energy Manager Van-Hung Le advised that "the University of Melbourne has three campuses declared 100% Certified Green Energy and an integrated program has developed to achieve major reductions in our Carbon footprint by 50% by the close of 2010. The University Council has also adopted aggressive energy use reduction targets, our ability to easily access energy information from the Energy Intellect solution is an essential enabling element of our energy reduction program, if we can't measure it we can't effectively manage it, the Clariti web-based reporting is tremendous, we have access to required information and when we want it, the reporting flexibility is outstanding."
